..then it pops like a bottled up soda can
What is inside gushes out, gentle streams at firstChanging to roaring rapids -
the muddy, murky waters emerge from the nether
From bare wires to putrefying matter - everything awash
As a city's underbelly churns during every rain -
The acid, in a gut reflex, its bowels regurgitating -
The yellow bile of excesses spew out
along with the putrid and the poop!
There is no concrete placebo for this to loop
The glasshouse of summer heat explodes with a rising storm
Then there is no stopping the city river, in the lashing rain
Overflowing from every "manhole", crevice and drain -
No pathways to be seen, no anchors to drop -
As my feet wade through these waters - the currents in fury
Like the violated Ganges, who laments on her lost purity
What trace of a natural glacier or lush dew drop would I find in a city?
Even as the gusts howl, wipers motor on windshields
Cars line up, bumper-to-bumper, headlights flash and honks blare
The blinding sheets of rain in a city, I see it float disembowelled in its own river, without a care!
