The last shaft of light, I see
When the sun lowers its crown
Breathing in, the bright blue of the day;
The expanse of the sky azure changing colours
The streaks of golden that glimmers
Shedding its garb, the barest needs of life
That uncovers,
The pining to love, to fulfil every desire
Before laying to rest
When the sounds of the day nestle into stillness
As birds of flight go homing,
to await the first inkling of the night sky
In shadows, those silhouettes, that stand in silence
This darkness that sighs deep,
The ink-blue sky takes me in
This slumber, it will be
To see that spark, the journey to wakefulness!
