Lone, lifeless, denuded
A little plant’s trust stands eluded
That nurturing breath of nature…snuffed out in a haze
What would befriend this little plant, left in a daze?
That what it seeks from the outliers of its being,
To nourish itself, to spring back to living-
The hope to survive unyielding…
I watch the barrenness of it day in and day out,
Searching in desperation, that friend, that oasis in drought
The loneliness of dormancy, to clout
I gaze unblinking at the plant, day and night
Waiting for the morrow in new light…
The weary eyes droop to slumber,
As does the restive nature of the outward seeker
Then lo! the dawn breaks – a new leaf breaks open,
To bring out the life within unfazed by the outlying elements
The undying spirit - the hope of new, glistens
the stoic tale of adversity – is what this plant beholds
and time and again, when loneliness creeps in,
I watch and listen, the tale of revival as it unfolds!
